For over 80 years, the companys Peerless, Vifa and ScanSpeak brands have delivered consistent, high quality audio transducer solutions to meet the most demanding audio applications.

The company was formed in 2005 through a merger of Tymphany, the inventor of the revolutionary Tymphany Linear Array Transducer (LAT), and Danish Sound Technology (DST), parent of renowned audio transducer brands Peerless, ScanSpeak and Vifa. With manufacturing facilities both in China and Denmark, and the financial backing of two of Silicon Valleys largest venture capital firms, the company is poised for continued growth with the powerful combination of Danish acoustical engineering, innovative audio technology, and low cost Chinese manufacturing.

Marketplace

From the beginning of loudspeakers in the 1930s, Denmark -- and the Peerless and Vifa brands in particular -- has been recognized as the leader in quality audio. With globalization taking place in the world today, the center of gravity of loudspeaker production has shifted to China, and in many cases audio quality has been sacrificed for lower cost. The low end of the audio transducer market is now dominated by hundreds of small Chinese manufacturers.

This current state of the audio market represents a significant opportunity for Tymphany. Employing the worlds most talented audio engineering teams, operating out of design centers in Denmark, China and the U.S., Tymphany can meet the most demanding consumer and professional audio requirements with optimized solutions at the best price-to-audio performance. Furthermore, by leading the audio transducer market in pure R&D investment, Tymphany is pushing the envelope on delivering quality sound in entirely new form factors.

Products/Technology


The Tymphany Linear Array Transducer (LAT) was introduced in 2006. Extremely scalable, the patented Tymphany LAT delivers a richer sound experience to places never before thought possible. With its slim cylindrical shape, no mechanical vibration, and sleek styling, the Tymphany LAT represents the first significant breakthrough in transducer technology since the inception of conventional audio transducers.

Since its inception in the 1970s, the preeminent ScanSpeak brand has been the industrys benchmark for high quality sound. Renowned for sound performance first commitment to quality, ScanSpeak technology developments focus on improving time-related performance while optimizing frequency response and reducing distortion. This focus on sound quality guides the selection and design of new materials and geometries and pushes manufacturing capabilities to the edge of what is possible today. ScanSpeak innovations include the SD and SD-1 magnet system patents, as well as special cone and suspension designs. Product lines such as ScanSpeaks Revelator and Illuminator woofers, mid/woofers and tweeters provide an unsurpassed level of freedom and raise the bar on the state-of-the-art transducers. ScanSpeak products are hand built in Denmark.

For 80 years, customers have relied on Peerless for quality sound. Peerless brand reputation is based on high performance woofers and subwoofers that can be used in products ranging from home entertainment to automotive and professional applications, and that are distinguished by their power handling, ultra-low distortion and adherence to the highest engineering standards. Innovations such as the 3- and 5-layer sandwich cone and the Nomex cone have set industry standards for high performance. Products such as the Peerless Ring dome and the proprietary laminated metal dome tweeter, along with wide angle and exposed dome tweeters, ensure excellent sound performance and consistency and offer unsurpassed performance in their price range.

Since the 1930s, the Vifa name has been widely recognized in the audio industry for excellent sound performance and engineering quality, particularly in the areas of tweeters and mid/woofers. Today, Vifa continues as Tymphanys high end brand from its China factory, with leading innovative yet affordable and reliable, product lines. Vifa products have been known for delivering increased sound naturalness and detailing through the use of low-loss suspension in the patented Pentacone (NRSC-Non Resonant Suspension Coupling) design. The Vifa XT was the first tweeter to comply with the Super Audio Standard. It set a new level of performance with its patented Dual Concentric Ring Radiator with Wave Guide, by combining the benefits of hard and soft dome tweeters.

Manufacturing

To serve the needs of its worldwide customer base, Tymphany is expanding its manufacturing capabilities in China. Already known for producing the best transducers in China, Tymphany has expanded its offering to include enclosures, amplification/crossovers and custom finishing.

Tymphany is making multi-million dollar investments in people, processes, state-of-the-art equipment, and training in a brand new facility in XinXu, near Shenzhen. These investments are enabling the company to expand its ISO-certified manufacturing capabilities in order to dramatically increase its capacity and further enhance product quality.

Tymphany's top-of-the-line ScanSpeak transducers continue to be hand made in its loudspeaker factory in Denmark.

Sales

Tymphany sells its products directly to OEM customers. Individuals and businesses interested in purchasing small quantities (< 250 pieces per order) of Tymphany products must buy from one of our reliable distribution partners.

Customers

Tymphany customers include many of the worlds leading producers of finished audio systems in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, including Alpine, DALI, Piega, Sonus Faber and System Audio.
