There are certain brands in consumer electronics well known for innovative industrial design. One such brand wanted to capture the look and feel of aluminum in their loudspeaker product but at a price point well below the typical cost of aluminum. While certain finishes could approach the look of aluminum, the heat transference properties (the feel of cold metal) couldn’t be matched with any typical solutions.
While most ODMs would just see an incompatibility, Tymphany designers introduced the customer to new methods of aluminum skinning on molded material that could meet the look and feel requirements while keeping the cost down. The critical mating joint quality achieved with these processes so impressed the customer that the original design was scrapped and redesigned to feature the new finish.
At Tymphany, design-for-manufacturing brings stunning results.
